Arran is off the Ayrshire coast in the Firth of Clyde. The island is described as Scotland in miniature – Hutton confirmed his geological theories by the rocks on Arran in the late C18. Volcanoes, followed by ice sheets and as a result of the melt of the ice sheets. raised beaches….. But unlike Shetland and Torridon, Arran seems to keep its geology a secret from the man on the Clapham Omnibus (he does have a long way to go…).
The other thing about Arran is that Mary Queen of Scots and Robert Burns never came to Arran BUT Robert the Bruce did – so lots of RtB places.
There is no campsite (suitable for motorhomes) in Brodick. I ended up in Cordon, south of Lamlash
