16 October 2011

Still marking time before visiting the brewery I went to Kingston Lacey, a Nat Trust property north of  Wimborne.  I get overwhelmed by big houses – I like places more accessible.  Kingston Lacey was one of the overwhelming ones.  I went to the local mill (also Nat Trust) in which I  was much more engaged.

The garden was full of these wire sculptures – the hares were the best

but the best thing in the garden was this subtle topiary.

Then on to the Mill – a wonderful brick building with water driven milling and latterly steam driven but with the water driven bit just abandoned
